We meet as a pyramid on a termly basis and these meetings are attended by Rawlett Headteacher,

Mr Bassett, Mrs S Jones, Assistant Headteacher and Mrs Bounds, Personalisation Learning Coordinator for Years 6/7.

The meetings always have a wide range of topics on the agenda and rotate around the different

Schools to ensure that everyone is involved and we work as a team to maintain the established strong links.

Transition Groups

Secondary and Primary teachers have agreed and collaborated on transition work in four subject areas; English, Maths, Science and ICT.

Each of our KS3 Subject Coordinators attends a meeting with KS2 teachers once a year to plan the units of work.  Work from KS2 in these subjects is brought into Rawlett to be displayed around the school and built upon in KS3.

Year 5 Day

Following the success of our initial ‘Year 5 Moving to High School Day’ in 2011 we are continuing these days .  Due to the huge response we have had from the primary students the two days for 2016 will be Thursday and Friday 10th and 11th March.

New Intake Evening

Our New Intake Evening for parents of year 6 pupils moving into year 7 will be on Tuesday 28th June 2016 at 7pm.

Year 6 into 7 Induction Days 2013

These will be 29th June to 1st July 2016 inclusive. We offer a 3 day induction programme.

How Transfer Is Supported

Places will be offered by the Local Authority on the 1st March 2016. Once your child has been offered a place they will be visited by Mrs Bounds, Personalisation Learning Coordinator for Years 6/7 and Mrs Dean. An information pack will be sent home via your son / daughter. Mrs Bounds will run question and transfer sessions in the primary schools during May / June. SEN will also be visiting primary schools and contacting families during this period ready to have support in place wherever possible for September 2016.

Three days of transition is arranged, which meets the needs of most students. However, individual programmes are regularly developed for individuals who need additional support.  These plans will be developed following regular discussions with Year 6 teachers and parents.

Curriculum Links

  • Design & Technology are inviting all the pyramid schools to Rawlett to cook products in the Food Technology rooms.  Students from years 5 and 6 have been designing and making a range of products.
  • The Maths and English Departments have both been visiting a number of pyramid feeder schools to look at the new KS2 curriculum and how it will impact on KS3.
